Under eye mesotherapy - an alternative to fillers?

Our under eye area can make us look tired, with hollows, dark circles, puffiness all being quite common, worsening with age. And while some patients get a fantastic result with Tear Trough fillers, many are not suitable - treating this latter group can lead to problems such as long term swelling/oedema.

However there are a few things which may help the under eye area in those not suitable for fillers.

Who might not be suitable for dermal fillers?

Anyone with eye bags or swelling under the eyes, or general water retention in the area is not a good candidate for dermal fillers which can often (not always) cause more swelling, sometimes months or years down the line. Some of my patients will know that I’ve said no to tear trough filler to them for these reasons.

So what is the alternative?

Over the past few years there has been a growing trend in using Mesotherapy and skin boosters on the face, to hydrate, refresh and rejuvenate the skin. Skin boosters are typically safer and work differently to dermal fillers.

Since 2020 I have been injecting a product under the eyes as a skin booster called NCTF using their patented Nanosoft needle.

This is growing in popularity month by month as more people find out about the benefits of using this under the eyes.

It can help improve fine lines, loose saggy skin and dark circles in a safe and virtually painless way.

NCTF - a cocktail of hyaluronic acid and 55 vitamins, minerals and coenzymes to revitalise the under eye area.

How is it injected, and is it safe?

I inject this product using a Nanoneedle which are 3 miniscule needle which grip onto the top layers of skin, gently allowing product to perfuse into the top layers of the dermis (skin). It causes hardly any pain, is quick, taking only minutes to perform, and there is very little chance of bruising.

This product is actually much safer than dermal fillers the the skin is not completely pierced and therefore the chance of hitting an artery is almost zero. Bruising, pain, infection and bleeding risk are all significantly lower also.

So yes it is a very safe proceedure!

The main side effect is swelling, like little bee stings immediately after, lasting perhaps 6-12 hours.

What results should I expect?

Generally patients will see any improvement to fine lines, darkness, and improved firmness of the skin, as seen above in my patient!

A minimum of 3 sessions are required initially, spaced 2-3 weeks apart, followed by a treatment every 3months.

Results can vary depending on the individual and initial severity of skin damage/laxity.
